Notice on the Cessation of Business in carrying out Type 1 Regulated Activities of Merdeka Securities Limited. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”)
Dear Valued customers,
After careful consideration, the Company has decided on March 31, 2023 and has officially ceased to carry out Type 1 regulated activities on July 31, 2023. In this regard, the Company has officially notified the Securities and Futures Commission (hereinafter referred to as “Securities and Futures Commission”) and applied for revocation of the license.
As the Company has officially ceased to carry out Type 1 regulated activities on July 31, 2023, the contract signed between the customer and the Company has also been terminated on July 31, 2023. The Company hereby once again informs customers that if there are still stocks and/or cash in the customer's account, please contact the Company as soon as possible within 14 days after the date of this announcement to arrange the withdrawal or transfer of the stocks and/or cash to other SFC licensed companies. Please note as the Company is no longer a participant of the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company, all customers' stocks are currently deposited in the trust account of Head & Shoulders Securities Limited (SFC license number: AFS455).
The Company also hereby notifies customers that if the Company still holds unclaimed client assets (including stocks and/or cash), the Company will report to the SFC and handle the assets in a manner deemed appropriate by the SFC, including, in accordance with the Sections 56 and 62 of the Trustee Ordinance (Cap. 29 and Rule 92 of the Rules of the High Court), applying to the Hong Kong court to deposit unclaimed client assets in court and the same to be disposed or dealt with according to the orders of the court.
